Can AI do your content repurposing?

Turn one webinar or article into posts, newsletter sections, and summaries with AI drafting and a marketer deciding what goes out.

Content repurposing is the marketing process where AI earns its place fastest, because the raw material already exists. A content repurposing workflow takes one source piece, a webinar, a long article, a customer call, and produces the formats each channel needs: posts, a newsletter section, short summaries, a script. Extracting the ideas and drafting the variants is bounded work with a source to check against, which is what AI does well. Choosing what deserves repurposing, and approving what carries your name, stays with a marketer. Start by picking one source piece and two channels.

What each step needs

01 Keep human

Choose the source piece and the formats

A marketer decides which piece is worth repurposing, for which channels, and with what goal. That is a strategy call about audience and positioning, and no model has the context to make it.

Keep a short repurposing plan per channel: format, length, tone, and what a good result looks like.

Extract the core ideas and quotes

AI works through the transcript or article and pulls out the main points, usable quotes, and any figures, each with a reference to where it came from. Unstructured input, repeatable output.

Every quote and figure must trace back to the source text; nothing may be added that the source does not say.

Draft the variants for each channel

From the extracted ideas, the model drafts the post series, the newsletter section, and the summaries in your voice, following the length and style rules of each channel. This is the step that takes most of the writing time today.

Give the model a written voice guide and examples, and have it flag any claim it could not find in the source.
04 Human review

Edit, fact-check, and approve

A marketer edits for tone, cuts what is generic, checks claims and names, and approves per variant. The edits are the feedback that makes the next batch better.

Nothing is published without a recorded approval, and rejected drafts are kept so the reasons can be reviewed.
05 Standard automation

Schedule and publish the approved set

Approved variants move to the scheduling tool with the right tags and links, spaced according to the channel plan. Publishing is deterministic once the content is fixed.

Publish only from the approved set, and stop the run when an asset or link fails rather than posting a broken item.

A sensible first experiment

Take one recent webinar or long article and let AI produce variants for two channels. Have the usual writer edit them as normal, and record the editing time per variant and how many were used as drafted, rewritten, or discarded. That tells you which formats are ready for a regular workflow.

The trap to avoid

Producing more mediocre content faster. Without a plan for which channels and which audience, repurposing becomes noise with your logo on it.

Questions teams ask

Which content repurposing tools do we need?

Fewer than the market suggests. You need somewhere the source lives, a model with access to your voice guide, and a scheduling tool for the approved output. A general workflow tool can connect them, and a dedicated content repurposing tool is worth considering only when the volume justifies it. The voice guide and the approval step matter more than the software.

Can AI repurpose video content?

Yes, with a transcript as the starting point. Repurposing video content usually means transcribing it, extracting the strong moments and ideas, and drafting written variants or clip suggestions. AI handles the transcript and the drafting well. Choosing the clips that represent you and checking that a quote keeps its original meaning still needs a person who was in the room, or who knows the audience.

How do we keep repurposed content in our brand voice?

Write the voice down. A one-page guide with tone, sentence length, words you avoid, and a handful of good and bad examples does more than any prompt trick. Feed it to the model on every run, have the editor mark what sounded off, and update the guide with those notes. Voice drift shows up in the edit rate first, so watch that number per channel.
